This article needs additional citations for verification. The dialogue of the characters is trite and unrealistic at best.

Don’t get me wrong i don’t mind a bit of philosophy, but you know, in the context of my sofles A level which i was forced to take and required to remember to exam standard. This book is basically an overview of the history of philosophy told in story form.

Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder is an ambitious project which falls flat – in my opinion, of course. I really had to force myself to get through this book hoping it would redeem itself at some point.
Alberto and Sophie listen as Knag tells Hilde about one last aspect of philosophy—the universe itself. And yes, it’s suitable for children. It spoke about the differences between children and adults, the whole adults lost their ‘joy’ in life and resort to humdrum things and children, opposites.
The literary elements are weak; the philosophy as stated before, is cursory. It is so boring and so poorly written. Is there any merit in pondering more, of making even more theories?

Told as a series of conversations between Alberto Knox — a philosopher and Sophie Amundsen — a student, the overall objective of the book is to give an overview of European philosophy. The movie was also presented as an eight-part Dofies series in Australia and Icelandagain scripted by Petter Skavlan. This is just so dumb and untrue and stupid I can’t put it into words.
