I admire his story and also treasure the advice he issues on tactics and strategy. One of the best poker books around when it comes to strategy. Beginners should be cautioned to perhaps begin their poker education with a simpler and less advanced guide as this text is best suited for intermediate and expert players. No trivia or quizzes yet.
And play dummy hands against yourself. The most useful sections are the ones on Triple Draw and Omaha8 as dyle is not much written about either of those games and the advice, while basic, is more than enough to give you an edge in nano-limit games online.
And think about poker day and night. The section on body-language and tells was the most interesting and useful to me. I disagree with the people on here saying you shouldn’t read Super System. Pot Limit Omaha coverage by Lyle Berman is not great.
Although many years have passed since the original brubson, it still supee relevant strategies and statistics. In case we’d forgotten. Yes, it IS dated. The rest of the material is just filler.

If you play in live ring games for decent stakes you might consider adopting this style of play. Gus Hansen Every Hand Revealed not bad. However, some of his insights were great reading even from a mainly online player. Given that the original is the most influential book in poker history, I can understand that, but you have to figure that such a thing is kind of setting the reader up for a letdown.
